Two Sacred Destinations of the Himalayan Yatra

The Adi Kailash and Om Parvat journey brings together two distinctive pilgrimage experiences in the Kumaon Himalayas.

Adi Kailash

Adi Kailash is a sacred Himalayan destination in Pithoragarh district and is often referred to as Chhota Kailash. The official Pithoragarh tourism website describes it as a site associated with Lord Shiva and highlights the nearby Parvati Lake and Gauri Kund.

Jolingkong is an important point on the route to Adi Kailash. The official district route information places Jolingkong at a high altitude and records a short final route section between Jolingkong and Adi Kailash.

The surrounding mountains and remote landscape give the destination a distinctive spiritual and natural setting.

Parvati Sarovar

Parvati Sarovar is a sacred lake located near Adi Kailash. The lake is closely connected with the religious traditions of the area and is one of the important places visited during the pilgrimage.

The peaceful lake and surrounding Himalayan peaks make this one of the memorable stops of the journey.

Gauri Kund

Gauri Kund is another sacred water body near Adi Kailash and is associated with Goddess Parvati. It forms an important part of the spiritual landscape around the main pilgrimage site.

Om Parvat

Om Parvat is famous for its naturally formed rock and snow pattern that resembles the sacred Hindu symbol “Om”. The official Pithoragarh district website states that the formation is visible from Nabhidhang.

The mountain and surrounding Himalayan landscape create one of the most distinctive views on the entire pilgrimage route.

Places to Visit During the Adi Kailash Yatra

The journey from Delhi passes through several towns and mountain areas before reaching the main pilgrimage destinations.

Depending on the selected itinerary and route conditions, travellers may visit:

  • Delhi
  • Dharchula
  • Gunji

  • Jolingkong
  • Adi Kailash
  • Parvati Sarovar
  • Gauri Kund
  • Nabhidhang
  • Om Parvat
  • Kali Temple
  • Brahma Parvat
  • Ganesh Parvat

The wider Pithoragarh region is known for its combination of religious sites, remote valleys, high mountain peaks, and adventure routes.

Delhi to Adi Kailash Travel Information

The journey from Delhi to Adi Kailash is a long Himalayan road journey. The initial section takes travellers through Uttarakhand towards Dharchula, which serves as an important base for the Adi Kailash Yatra.

From Dharchula, the route continues towards Tawaghat, Gunji, Nabi, Kuti, Jolingkong, and other high-altitude locations depending on the itinerary.

The official Pithoragarh route information identifies Dharchula, Tawaghat, Gunji, Kuti, Jolingkong, and Nabhidhang as important points on the wider Adi Kailash and Om Parvat route.

Because this journey enters a remote border region at high altitude, the actual travel schedule can change because of weather, road conditions, permits, security instructions, and local accessibility.

Adi Kailash Yatra Cost from Delhi

The cost of the journey depends on the travel duration, vehicle arrangements, accommodation, meals, permits, group size, and services included in the selected itinerary.

As per the package details provided for this tour, the Adi Kailash Yatra Package from Delhi starts from ₹28,500 per person for a 5 Days / 4 Nights itinerary.

Adi Kailash Yatra from Delhi Permit Information

The Adi Kailash route enters a sensitive border region of Uttarakhand, so travellers need to follow the applicable permit and identification requirements.

TripTOCharDham provides assistance with the required Inner Line Permit process as part of the package arrangement. Travellers should provide the documents requested by the operator and follow the latest instructions issued by the relevant authorities.

The Pithoragarh district administration also publishes official updates related to Adi Kailash Yatra status and batches, making it important to check current information before departure.

Delhi to Adi Kailash Distance, Duration and Route

The Delhi-to-Adi Kailash journey covers a long distance and includes several stages through the Uttarakhand mountains. The exact total road distance depends on the selected route, sightseeing stops, and the high-altitude travel arrangements.

The official Pithoragarh route information provides individual distances for sections of the mountain route, including:

  • Dharchula to Tawaghat: About 19 km
  • Tawaghat to Pangu: About 9 km
  • Budhi to Gunji: About 17 km
  • Gunji to Kalapani: About 18 km
  • Kuti to Jolingkong: About 14 km
  • Jolingkong to Adi Kailash: About 4 km
  • Om Parvat viewing point: Nabhidhang route area

The complete journey from Delhi requires multiple travel stages, so the 5 Days / 4 Nights package duration should be viewed as an organized itinerary rather than a simple distance-based road trip.

Highlights of Adi Kailash Yatra from Delhi

The journey combines spiritual experiences with remote Himalayan landscapes.

Key highlights include:

  • Darshan of sacred Adi Kailash
  • Visit to Parvati Sarovar
  • Visit to Gauri Kund
  • Om Parvat Darshan
  • Travel through Dharchula and the Kumaon Himalayas
  • Visit to remote Himalayan villages
  • Views of high mountain peaks and valleys
  • Experience of the peaceful Himalayan environment
  • Opportunity to explore one of Uttarakhand’s important spiritual and adventure circuits

The Uttarakhand Tourism master plan also identifies Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, Jolingkong, Parvati Kund, Gunji, Nabi, and Nabhidhang as important destinations within the eastern Kumaon spiritual and eco-tourism circuit.

Fitness & Difficulty Level for Adi Kailash Yatra

The Adi Kailash journey involves long road travel, high-altitude conditions, and sections that may require walking or trekking depending on the current route and local arrangements.

Travellers should have a reasonable level of fitness and be prepared for:

  • Long mountain journeys
  • High-altitude conditions
  • Cold temperatures
  • Uneven terrain
  • Limited facilities in remote areas
  • Changing weather conditions

People with existing medical concerns should seek appropriate medical advice before planning a high-altitude pilgrimage.

It is also important to avoid rushing after reaching higher elevations and to follow instructions from the local travel team and authorities.

Best Time to Visit Adi Kailash & Om Parvat

The best time for the journey depends on official route status, weather, road conditions, permits, and the operating schedule of the Yatra.

For your package, the commonly preferred periods can be presented as:

May to June

These months generally offer suitable conditions for Himalayan travel, subject to the official route status. Mountain views can be particularly attractive during clear weather.

September to October

The post-monsoon period can offer clearer mountain views and fresh landscapes. Weather conditions still need to be checked before departure.

July to August

Monsoon conditions can affect mountain roads, visibility, and accessibility in Uttarakhand. Rather than stating that the entire Adi Kailash Yatra is automatically closed during these months, travellers should confirm the current operating status before making plans.

The Uttarakhand Tourism master plan identifies April to November as a broader seasonal window for the eastern Kumaon circuit, while actual pilgrimage packages can follow more specific operating schedules.

Important Travel Tips

  • Carry valid identification documents.
  • Complete the required permit formalities before departure.
  • Pack warm and layered clothing.
  • Wear comfortable shoes with good grip.
  • Carry essential medicines and personal items.
  • Keep yourself hydrated.
  • Carry only necessary luggage for the mountain sections.
  • Follow instructions from local authorities and security personnel.
  • Allow flexibility for weather or road-related delays.
  • Avoid rushing at high altitudes.
  • Check the latest Yatra status before departure.
